Responsibilities To qualify for this position 2 years experience as a Ultrasound Technologist in a Medical Center environment performing a full array of ultrasound and vascular procedures is preferred. Experience required for this position includes the following knowledge, skills and abilities. Knowledge of: PACS medical terminology, anatomy and physiology relating to ultrasound and medical imaging; ultrasound physics and instrumentation. Ability to: perform diagnostic ultrasound and vascular procedures with a high level of expertise; distinguish between normal and abnormal pathology; work independently adjusting priorities according to changing clinical situations; prioritize work; communicate well with others; deal effectively with ill and agitated patients; review and understand medical records; work independently. Candidates must have: Ultrasound Technologist I- one ARDMS registry and a BLS certification from the American Heart Association. The incumbent operated ultrasound and related imaging equipment to produce diagnostic ultrasound studies and images according to protocols established by the Department Chairman. Demonstrates competency in care for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Technologist is required to participate in the department's call schedule to provide weeknight, weekend, and holiday coverage. The diagnostic medical Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine setting. The diagnostic medical sonographer works with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients. Qualifications
Job Duties: Up to date certification in diagnostic ultrasound. Certificate of American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or ability to obtain Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program. 3 or more years of experience Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements. Must have one of the following: 2 years or more of Allied Health Educational Program and 1 year of on the job training in Ultrasound OR have completed an approved ultrasound educational program. Prep the patient for the ultrasound exam. Prep the patient to meet with the physician. Before starting the exam/test, explain to the patient what they should expect.
Ensure the patient is prepared with the procedures to make sure the results are optimal. Obtain any consent forms/decline forms before starting the exam. Handle and oversee ultrasound, making note of any data needed for physician interpretation. Conduct ultrasound procedures during physician invasive procedures as needed. Ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Ensure appropriate codes for all services performed. Submit to billing on a daily basis. Record and process all ultrasound data involving observation made during the exam to ensure physician has as much information to make an informed diagnosis from results. Maintain ultrasound equipment. Be able to recognized and issues and take appropriate actions. If additional services need to be performed, notify Patient Service Associate to obtain all appropriate authorizations. Ensure all ultrasound supplies are maintained with appropriate inventory. Ensure professional relationships with all patients, staff, and public. Scan records and maintain archived records. Ensure full compliance of all safety and security training in accordance with OSHA standards/regulations. Must remain non-judgemental and respectful of all patients/staff religious, ethical and moral beliefs. Ensure completion of all compliance training. Recognizes ethical, legal and professional issues inherent in providing care to the patient. Engage in all staff development workshop, meetings or activities. Maintain all professional affiliations Perform other assigned duties as needed.
